Children's Vision Screening Certification
Children’s vision screening training offers a thoroughly evaluated and standardized program for identifying children in need of professional eye care. Once trained, you will have the opportunity to screen, and/or assist screeners, at health fairs or schools.
Requirements: A love for children, patience, desire to help children
How do I become a trained children’s vision screener?
Certified instructors conduct Prevent Blindness America’s training session. If you choose to become a vision screener, you will learn about:
• State requirements for children’s vision screenings
• The roles and responsibilities of a screener
• Signs of vision problems in children
• Interpreting test results
• How to report tests
• Guidelines for follow-up processes
Prevent Blindness America’s training manual gives important information, including equipment lists, space requirements, set-up directions, instructions for conducting screening tests, screening practice lessons, useful tips, a glossary and other reference material.
Your donation can accomplish so much:
- $10 provides a vision screening to one child!
- $75 provides 100 people with resources and information at a community health fair!
- $100 provides training and supplies for one school nurse!
- $150 provides an eye examination and glasses for one child!
